HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
According to a legend, there was an ex-captain of a ship who brought a large tract of land in a place which is now known as Barangay Taculing. For sentimental reason, he named his newly acquired property Taculin in memory of his ship, Taculin. Form his land grew in abundance wild grapes called Bicang. Its fruit was glossy black when ripe in which the people called it tuling in their native dialect. Because of this, the native called their place Tuling before it was purchase by the ex-captain. There was confusion as to the name of the place. Some people called it Tuling while others called it Taculin. But as the years went on the people gradually called the place Taculing for proper identification.
In order to officially identify the place, the Barangay Council of 1964-1968 passed a resolution sponsored by Councilmen Ivar Solidom and Rodolfo Aspan to officially name the barangay as Barangay Taculing.
The offices of the City Mayor, City Council, City Superintendent of Schools, City Treasurer, Division Superintendent of Schools of Negros Occidental and the Secretary of Education, Manila were each furnished a copy of the resolution.
